Roofer Struck by Lightning in Monticello, Minn.
MONTICELLO, Minn. -- A roofer working to repair old storm damage was struck by lightning Thursday afternoon in Monticello, Minn. Emergency responders pulled the man from the roof after he was hit around 12:00 p.m. on the 8900 block of Farmstead Ave. He was taken to Monticello-Big Lake Hospital, where his condition is unknown. “Several of the roofers working on the house said when the lightning hit they were all stunned and then noticed one of the co-workers had crumpled to the roof top and was not moving,” Andy Kotz, who captured pictures of the rescue, said. “Initially, the man was not breathing and his heart was not beating, but within a minute or so he began to breathe.” Winds were reportedly blowing at over 30 mph and lightning was seen in the area prior to the lightning strike.
